To start of 2012 with a bang Thames Boat Project is running a rather unusual fundraising event... Phil The Boat! Over January they aim to 'Phil' the Richmond Venturer with all types of unwanted textiles including Clothing, Shoes, Bags, Belts, Hats, Curtains, Towels and Bedding.
They have teamed up with a textile recycler who will pay them up to £600 per tonne, and all money raised will go towards buying the environmental licence for the boat and the diesel they use each year, essential to keeping the Richmond Venturer running. Bring all your old textiles down to the boat every Thursday in January between 9am and 12 noon. Items are accepted in any condition.

Kcafe is an innovative new project that provides services for young people, as well opening to the wider public as a community cafe. Kcafe is run by and staffed by workers from Richmond Youth Partnership, a voluntary sector organization that works with young people in the local community. Our aim is to provide a facility for young people where they can come and meet other young people in a safe environment, access advice and information from youth workers, and get involved in activities and projects.
We run youth club sessions, trips, workshops, youth events, skate and BMX competitions, and more!

Dreamcatcher Media are now taking bookings for their unique February and Easter mid-term break & Summer Film Camps. Children aged 7-18 attend for 5 days to learn the fundamentals of filmmaking and then have fun making their own short film. Along the way they play the different production roles from scriptwriter to director, camerperson or sound operator. They then learn to edit their own movie. Kingston WelCare is a project working to support all families in the local community. WelCare offers parents a wide range of activities to enjoy with their children as well as offering support, advice and information.
A wide range of activities are available to parents every week and during school holidays.  Examples of some of the activities at WelCare are messy play sessions,  a grandparents group, story-time sessions and a weekly lunch club where parents can come along to meet other parents.  There is also a weekly duty advice session on Monday mornings between 9.30-12.30 where parents can drop in for parental help or advice.  During school holidays there is a holiday programme at WelCare offering parents a wide range of lots of fun activities such as art and craft, cooking, various trips to parks, zoos, cinema to enjoy with their children.  Activities are subsidised to reduce the financial burden many families face at holiday time.  We have more than one activity per day and some will be organised for specific age groups.  The holiday programme runs for 8 weeks of Kingston’s school holidays.
There are Parent Support Workers at WelCare to help parents with their children, also to help parents whose children have been excluded from school, support for families whose relatives are in custody and also a service for parents who find it challenging and need help with the admission process for secondary schools.  WelCare also run parent workshops at various times throughout the year for parents seeking to enhance their parenting skills.
