French Evening Of Song

A musical evening of French (and some English) songs from the post-war 20th century

Georges Brassens has been widely acclaimed as France’s greatest poet/songwriter.  The evening is a celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth and will involve talking a little (in French) but mainly singing songs by Brassens and some of his contempories: Jacques Brel * Yves Montand * Georges Moustaki * Jake Thackray * Charles Trenet

The evening will include French and some English songs of the period 1950-2000, including: The Hair of the Widow of Bridlington – La Mer – Les Copains d’Abord – Sister Josephine – Il est trop tard  – Lah-di-dah – Le Métèque – Chanson pour l’Auvergnat – The Lodger
