Having brass accompaniment for one of our concerts is something of a departure, described by Music Director Harry Bradford thus:
‘The combination of choir and brass instruments has amazed and captivated composers for generations. The rich and exciting sound-world created lends itself equally well to varied musical palettes of sombre reflection, calls to arms and of course, triumphant celebration. It is in this final vein that Thames Philharmonic Choir joins with players of Ibex brass to celebrate a return of communal music making with Joseph Jongen’s beautiful setting of the Mass, paired with John Rutter’s scintillating ‘Gloria’ which is sure to be a rousing end to a long-awaited full season of music. There will also be a fitting tribute to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with Hubert Parry’s ‘I was Glad’.
