Kingston Philharmonia concludes its season with an uplifting evening of Vaughan Williams and Mahler at St Andrew’s Church, Surbiton, on Saturday 27 June at 7:30pm.
The programme opens with Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel, a much-loved setting of Robert Louis Stevenson’s poetry for baritone and orchestra, performed by Stuart Orme. The second half features Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, a luminous and approachable work full of charm, colour and moments of wonder, with soprano soloist Callie Gaston.
The concert is conducted by Kingston Philharmonia’s Musical Director, Lewis Gaston. Founded in 1974 and recently celebrating its 50th anniversary, the orchestra remains an established part of the local musical life, with players from Kingston, Surbiton, Long Ditton and surrounding areas.
The concert will last approximately two hours, including an interval where wine will be available for purchase. Tickets are £16 (£14 concessions, £5 students, free for under-5s and carers) and are available via WeGotTickets or on the door.
