Playtime Takeover celebrating a major animated film release in Kingston

Toy Takeover

Monday 15th June to Sunday 28th June

At The Bentall Centre, Kingston upon Thames

The Bentall Centre is partnering with Curzon Cinema to host the ‘Toy Takeover’, an immersive two-week celebration marking the release of a major animated toy adventure film. The event kicks off on Monday 15th June on the ground floor with a large, tablet-themed selfie installation designed for visitors to capture and share photos on social media.

Families can also participate in a centre-wide, QR code-led digital trail by scanning codes at various retailers to enter a prize draw for gift cards and retailer prizes.

The main event activations take place over the weekend of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June, running from 11:00am to 4:00pm. During these days, a lower ground floor workshop zone will allow children to craft unique characters and “Cosmic Alien Slime”, while an adjacent dress-up zone lets fans transform into film-inspired characters. Additionally, live green toy soldiers will make interval appearances across the shopping centre throughout the day on Saturday 20th June.

A variety of retailers within the centre are supporting the campaign with themed merchandise and exclusive offers. Families can find themed clothing at Zara Kids and Typo, bags and stationery at Smiggle, and an array of toys and collectibles at The Entertainer, Fenwick, Build-A-Bear, and HMV. McDonald’s is also participating by offering themed figures in their Happy Meals. Blending film, technology, and interactive storytelling, the campaign features cinematic messaging and ticket promotions in collaboration with Curzon Cinema.
